Ancient, historical and always contemporary In 1664 the Right Rev. Robert Maxwell purchased Waldron Estate and renamed it Farnham. It remained in the Maxwell family until 2001. The original Farnham House was enlarged and ornamented between 1801 and 1810 by the fashionable architect Francis Johnson, who was responsible for the GPO and the Chapel at Dublin Castle.
